Take a look at #37. Go Navy, Beat Army!!

I'm really looking forward to the VT - Boise State game. That's one of those games that makes or breaks an entire season. Our tickets are on the 40 yard line.

Given that generally the defense outperforms the offense early in the season you'd think the edge would go to Bud Foster and his crew. I don't hink there is any question that with Darren Evans and Ryan Williams in the backfield the Hokies will be able to run - I just hope Tyrod Taylor has a good spring and he and his receivers get on the same page.

But that's why you have to put on pads, line up and play the game. Should be a great game and a fun season to watch.

That's an awesome gift from your daughter.

BTW, have you ever read John Feinstein's book on the Army-Navy game? If so, what did you think? I have yet to read, but have read most of his other books.

"A Civil War" is an outstanding book. Feinstein did a magnificent job capturing what the Army-Navy game is about, particularly the non-football aspects. Bancroft Hall is an absolute nuthouse the week before the game.

Of course I'm biased but there is no other rivalry in college sports that even comes close. It transcends the game. College football at its purest.

It's funny, but when I hear people say Duke-UNC in hoops or "THE" Ohio State v Michigan in football (Bosox and Yanks play far too often in meaningless games for it to count in my book)are best rivalries (and I'm biased to the hoops' rivalry), I always bring up Army-Navy. The tradition and true student-athlete aspect have a lot to argue in its favor (not to mention the shared service to the country aspect).
